It appears that, in the event of any event with significant social, cultural, or political impact - such as civil emergencies, natural disasters, public health emergencies, terrorism and related activities, conflict, or mass acts of violence, you won’t be hearing about it or finding any information about it on Google. WOW…this is very interesting.

Given the current global climate of impending mega-crisis, it would be nice to be able to know about things that affect our lives, perhaps even threaten them. Certainly, preventing mass panic and the social disorder that would follow is important but, limiting the flow and availability of information seems like an ominous, and dangerous, way of ensuring public safety.

The study looks at revenue and three measures of annual profit – gross profit, which is revenue minus the costs of goods sold; earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA); and net income. The results are a bit staggering. The study team notes that 35 large pharmaceutical companies, they were not identified in the abstract, earned cumulative revenue of $11.5 trillion over the 18-year study period. When looking at the other profit measures, the companies had gross profit of $8.6 trillion, EBITDA of $3.7 trillion and net income of $1.9 trillion.
